I.O.U.S.A. The Movie
NOTE: This short film is pretty good at explaining some of how we got out current national debt, but we noticed that it tended to pin inordinate blame on Republicans, despite the website's own claim that it is "resolutely non-partisan." I am also concerned about the political leanings of the foundation responsible for this video. Although I was unable to locate any information about them on DiscoverTheNetworks, they seem proud of a Reuters comment that their film is "To the U.S. economy what 'An Inconvenient Truth' was to the environment." Uh... what's that, a load of bovine feces?

Real Environmental Concerns

Monsanto is a large company that makes genetically-modified seeds and animals; they make Round-up. They created Agent Orange for use during the Vietnam War. They have been engaged in aggressive tactics to force farmers in countries around the world into only buying their genetically-modified (non-reproducing) seeds, and even making it illegal to "seedbank," or store natural seeds for future use. Many farmers in these countries have committed suicide under these conditions. Monsanto has much to gain from a new bill, HR 875, that is being introduced to the House and Senate.

A solemn walk through HR 875
NOTE: This article mentions a few other bills that need to be paid close attention to. Write Congress now and ask them to Withdraw HR 875 immediately as well as SR425, HR 814, and related bills.

Monsanto vs Schmeiser
From the website:

Percy Schmeiser is a farmer from Bruno, Saskatchewan Canada whose Canola fields were contaminated with Monsanto's Round-Up Ready Canola. Monsanto's position was that it didn't matter whether Schmeiser knew or not that his canola field was contaminated with the Roundup Ready gene, or whether or not he took advantage of the technology (he didn't); that he must pay Monsanto their Technology Fee of $15./acre.

NOTE: I was sent a link to this movie online. After the first few minutes, and also a later happenstance upon a website of Zeitgeist adherents, I knew it was a bad thing. Be forewarned! I know people who may have been impressed with this film's disinformation. You may, too!
